HISE 327 Literature and Society in Russia, 1800-1917 (3)

Prof. Ramer. An exploration of the central role that writers and literature played in the culture and society of nineteenth and early twentieth-century Russia. Readings include selected novels, poetry, critical essays, and memoirs as well as secondary historical literature. The course focuses upon the role of literature in Russian society and the relationship between literary representations and history.
