HISE 328 Literature and Society in Russia, 1917-1991 (3)
Prof. Ramer. An exploration of the role that literature and writers played in the history and culture of the Soviet Union from its inception to its collapse in 1991. Readings include selected novels, poetry, and memoirs as well as secondary historical literature. The course focuses on the relationship between writers and the state and society in the Soviet period and the relationship between literary representations and history.
