Staff. The Trans-Mississippi West is central to the American nation's experience and identity. This course will examine its rapid development in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Recurrent themes studied will include cycles of boom and bust, the conflicts among diverse peoples, and the interactions between westerners and the environment.
