SPAN 606 Bilingualism in the Hispanic World (3)
Prof. Howard, Prof. Zapata. Prerequisite: 400-level sequence. This course is to teach students about the sociology of language from specific cases of language content and bilingualism in the Spanish-speaking world. The student will learn about Spanish in many varied social settings, as well as about first and second language acquisition; language maintenance, shift, and death; code switching; speech production and processing; and bilingual education and language policy.
