SPAN 461 National Cinemas in Latin America (3)
Prof. López. A detailed historical, thematic, and stylistic analysis of individual national cinemas in Latin America (Cuban cinema, Brazilian cinema, Mexican cinema, for example). Emphasis will be placed on understanding the development of national cinema industries and movements in the context of other social, economic, political, and aesthetic forces. May be repeated for credit if the national cinema studied is different. COMM 419 Intro to Latin American Cinema is highly recommended, although not a prerequisite. Same as COMM 461.
