ARHS 353 Survey of Russian Art (3)

Prof. Brumfield. An introduction to the art and architecture of Russia, from the 12th century to the present. The first part of the course deals with the medieval period (church architecture, icons, frescoes). The second part begins with the assimilation of western European styles during the 17th century, and concludes with a survey of current developments in Russia. No knowledge of Russian required. Counts as elective credit towards the art history major. Same as RUSS 353.
