Prof. Patton, Prof. Mackin. A study of contemporary theories of persuasion and their applications. Persuasive appeals in political campaigns, social movements, forms of propaganda, and advertising are examined. The influence of evidence, forms of argument, cultural attitudes, and language on the persuasive process are considered.
