COMM 425 Rhetorical Theory (3)
Prof. Mackin, Prof. Patton. A survey of rhetorical theories from pre-Socratic Greek theories to contemporary European and American theories. The course compares and analyzes theories of Plato, Aristotle, Cicero, St. Augustine, Bacon, Blair, Campbell, Whately, Richards, Burke, Derrida, and others. Ontological, epistemological, and practical aspects of theories will be examined.
